Very nice. I've never done woodburning--what's it like? Easy, hard?
:iconrainmagess:
You'd love it. It wouldn't be difficult for you at all. Just like watercolor painting and carving at the same time.
:icondarkestnight:
Huh. I'll have to look into it sometime. Maybe I'll invade your house and have you show me how it works in the fall. =P
:iconrainmagess:
:D Yay for stalker invasions! I'm available after Sept 9th if you are interested.
:icondarkestnight:
That works out dandy. This week is my last week of work and then I'm off to visit the folks for a week, so we'll both be free at the same time. =)

I have a lot of sticks to do woodburning on if you're interested. I have now camelia, laurel, cherry and grape. I'm going to cut down hawthorn, hazel, plum, pear, elderberry and an unknown (but straight growing white-wooded) bush. Hooray for weeding landlord-neglected property! Tell me if there's anything you think sounds nice. Also, I think I found a woody lemon balm root-ball? Don't know if it's good for anything.
:iconrainmagess:
Dude, keep them all. The cherry sounds awesome especially, but I'm not sure about the shrubs. We'll have to do some experimentation. Do you have in mind useful things you'd like to make? We could fabricate our own boxes if you have flat pieces, but that requires an amount of sanding and dedication.

How big is the root ball? We could try making a bowl/vase out of it.
:icondarkestnight:
You should come over when we both get back in town and we can sort out some keepers. I think the biggest is about 1 1/2" in diameter--whatever is the largest branch one can practically cut with loppers.

I would actually be interested in lathing out pirns for my antique weaving shuttles--beats carving rotting ones into shape. =P
